We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sheet Metal Engineering Team Leader to oversee our advanced fabrication team. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on expertise in setting, and operating a specific suite of high-tech machinery. This is a crucial leadership role, ensuring efficient workflow, maintaining quality standards, and mentoring team members to meet production targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of a sheet metal team utilising our Amada Press Brakes, ensuring all safety protocols and quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001) are strictly adhered to.
- Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings, and technical specifications to determine production requirements.
- Conduct regular quality checks on finished products using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calliper’s, micrometres, gauges) to ensure compliance with design specifications and tight tolerances.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machine issues to maintain production efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Manage and perform routine preventative maintenance with the team and report any machinery malfunctions to the maintenance team.
- Mentor and provide hands-on training to junior operators and apprentices, fostering a culture of skill development and best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and project management teams to optimize production processes and improve efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a supervisory or team leader role within a fast-paced sheet metal fabrication environment (minimum 2-3 Years)
- A relevant Level 3 qualification in engineering. This could be a BTEC or City and Guilds qualification in general engineering.
- ILM Level 3 or CMI Level 3 qualification desirable.
- Essential hands-on experience (setting and operating) of Amada Press brakes. Experience with Salvagnini Panel Benders would be advantageous.
- A strong understanding of all sheet metal processes.
- Proficiency in using CAD/CAM software for programming is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
- A strong commitment to health and safety requirements and high managerial standards.

Pay Range:
Minum £17 per hour
Schedule:
Monday to Thursday, 07.30 – 16.30
Friday 07.30 – 14.00
