Punch and Press Brake Toolroom Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a practical and motivated Punch and Press Brake Toolroom Engineer to support the effective management, maintenance, and preparation of tooling within our sheet metal production environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on engineering experience, good attention to detail, and a strong understanding of tooling condition, accuracy, and safe working practices. This is an important support role, helping to keep production moving efficiently, reduce downtime, maintain quality standards, and ensure tooling is available, organised, and ready for use.

Total: 33.5 hrs/week

Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain, inspect, prepare, and organise punch press and press brake tooling to support efficient production activity.
  • Identify tooling wear, damage, or performance issues and carry out repairs, replacements, or escalation where required
  • Support production teams by ensuring the correct tooling is available, correctly stored, and ready for planned work.
  • Maintain accurate tooling records, stock levels, locations, and related documentation to support control and traceability
  • Follow safe working practices, maintain good housekeeping, and contribute to improvements in tooling reliability and production efficiency.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in a toolroom, engineering, maintenance, CNC, fabrication, or manufacturing support role.
  • Good practical engineering ability, with confidence handling tooling, measuring equipment, and technical
  • A reliable, organised, and quality-focused approach, with good attention to detail and safe working habits

Desirable

  • Experience with CNC punch press tooling, press brake tooling, or sheet metal fabrication equipment.
  • Knowledge of tooling maintenance, sharpening, inspection, storage, and stock control processes.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and understand how tooling condition affects part quality, accuracy, and machine performance.
