Trainee Powder Coater
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Trainee Powder Coater to join our production team and develop skills within our powder coating department. You will learn to prepare, coat and inspect sheet metal components, working with our main Wagner powder coating plant and our second Nordson plant. Full training and support will be provided, so previous powder coating experience is not essential. The ideal candidate will have a practical attitude, a willingness to learn and good attention to detail.

Core Responsibilities
- Learn to apply powder coatings using manual spray equipment and support the operation of automated coating systems under guidance from experienced team members.
- Assist with loading, hanging, masking and unloading components, checking job instructions and handling parts carefully to protect the finish.
- Learn to prepare equipment and assist with colour changes, booth cleaning and powder handling to prevent contamination.
- Carry out basic quality checks under supervision, including coverage, coating thickness and surface finish, reporting defects promptly.
- Maintain clear communication with team leaders and colleagues, keep work areas clean and organised, and follow safe working practices and PPE requirements.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- A practical and reliable approach, with a willingness to learn and develop within a manufacturing environment.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to follow production instructions and quality requirements accurately.
- Good timekeeping, communication and teamwork skills, with a positive attitude towards safety and quality.
Desirable
- Previous experience in manufacturing, engineering, painting, finishing, warehousing or another practical environment.
- An understanding of basic preparation, masking, spraying or quality inspection processes.
- An interest in powder coating, sheet metal manufacturing and developing technical skills over time.
